Consultants and a founder working through a strategy plan around a table

Strategy and design for founders who need a clear next move

Hughes Ahmed is a small senior team in Manchester. Short engagements, no hand-offs to juniors.

Most founders do not need more advice. They need a decision they can stand behind on Monday.

We work with a handful of founders and operators at a time, so the people you meet in the first call are the people doing the work. We would rather finish early than fill the calendar.

What we do

Four practices, one team. Most clients start with one and pull in a second when the first lands.

Positioning
Who you are for, what you replace and why they should choose you. Delivered as a one-page position your whole team can repeat.
Brand
Name, identity and voice built from the position, not from taste. You leave with files, guidelines and a launch plan.
Product
Find the one job your product must do brilliantly, then design the first-run experience around it.
Growth
Pick the two channels worth your next quarter, set the targets and build the tests that tell you whether they work.

Why a small senior team

Two partners talking through printed strategy pages at a wooden table

No pyramid

Two partners and one senior lead on every project. Nobody learns the trade on your budget.

One team across the whole problem

Positioning, brand and product decisions touch each other. We make them in one room, not across three agencies.

An end date from day one

Every engagement has a finish line and a fixed fee. Nothing rolls on into a retainer by default.

Results

Selected work

Two engagements, the numbers they moved and how long they took.

Pennine Provisions, repositioning and rebrand

A Todmorden food maker was selling on price in 40 shops. We repositioned it around provenance and rebuilt the packaging. Repeat orders rose 38% in six months and the range moved into 112 independent stores.

Positioning and brand. 7 weeks.

31% to 64%

Kearsley Fleet Services, driver app onboarding

New drivers were abandoning the app on day one. We cut setup from nine screens to three and rewrote the first week. Activation doubled in ten weeks and support tickets fell by a third.

Product and growth. 10 weeks.

Process

How we work

Four steps from first call to handover, with a fixed end date.

Week 0

A free 30 minute intro call

You tell us the problem. We tell you honestly whether we are the right people, and if not, who is.

Week 1

A fixed scope and fee

One page: what we will do, who does it, the end date and the price. Most projects run three to eight weeks.

Weeks 2 to 7

Weekly working sessions

You see the work every week, not at the end. A partner is in the room each time.

A handover you can run with

Documents, files and a 60 minute session with your team. We stay on call for 30 days after.

Questions founders ask

How long does an engagement last?
Most run between three and eight weeks. We agree the end date before we start.
Who will I work with?
Always the two partners and one senior designer or strategist. No hand-off to juniors.
What does it cost?
We quote a fixed fee after the intro call. Most projects fall between £18,000 and £45,000.
Do you work outside Manchester?
Yes. About half our clients are elsewhere in the UK and we travel for workshops.
